Caboolture State School is located on the Sunshine Coast in the state of Queensland, Australia. To our north are the historical Glasshouse Mountains, as well as the sun and sand of the Sunshine Coast; to our east is the Pummistone Passage and Bribie Island. Forty-five minutes to the south lies the metropolitan city of Brisbane.
Caboolture State School has served the Caboolture district for 127 years. It is a co-educational state school with a current enrolment of approximately 600 students. The focus of our school is to foster children's learning in a supportive, creative and harmonious environment, preparing them to become lifelong learners and responsible contributing members in our society. As a staff we value the development of each individual.
The school has a very strong community link: parents and carers are involved in the decision making processes and the setting of strategic direction for the school through:
Students have access to a range of sporting and cultural activities, including choir and instrumental music. We offer our students a diverse and sequential curriculum program. Staff provides support programs which cater to the individual needs of our students. These include programs for students with disabilities and/or learning difficulties, and enrichment programs for high achieving students.
We have the services of a school chaplain who works at the school 4 days per week. The chaplain also runs a breakfast program which is sponsored by local businesses and churches. A literacy/numeracy coach is currently employed through the federally funded National Partnerships scheme to work with teachers to continually enhance and improve classroom practices and student outcomes. Also funded through a second component of the National Partnership scheme are the following: an alternate program staffed by a teacher and 20 hours of teacher aide time has been introduced to support students who exhibit challenging behaviour, provide homework assistance and to provide additional tuition for targeted students; an additional support teacher literacy and numeracy 3 days each week to run programs for students who need additional support and a classified officer full time to assist staff with curriculum development, run parent education programs and further develop community links.
Recent construction is a new library and covered outdoor learning area which is funded by the Building Education Revolution program. These buildings, valued at $3 million, will enable students to access exciting new programs aimed at enhancing their learning outcomes. A new technology centre capable of housing 60 computers has been established in the library building.
The staff of the school is a highly dedicated team who provide educational programs which allow each individual to achieve his/her maximum potential.
