CABOOLTURE STATE SCHOOL PARENT/COMMUNITY MEMO
9 NOVEMBER 2023
I have been honoured and privileged to be the principal of Caboolture State School for the
last 17 years of my career. During that time, I have had the pleasure of working with
hundreds of students. It has been amazing to hear of their successes in various aspects of
their lives (academic, sporting, cultural, etc). Some are now here as parents of the next
generation of students and some are employed here to work with our students.
During my time here one of my priorities has been to improve the facilities in our school for
the benefit of our students. Some of the major enhancements include the Hall, the Library
and the COLA. In the near future our Tuckshop and A and some of B Block will have face
lifts. I am very proud of these achievements and hope that further upgrades occur in the
future.
People have asked me in the past when I was going to retire. My answer has always been, “I
don’t know but one morning I will wake up and I will know it’s time”. That is exactly what
happened last week. As a result, I will be taking Long Service Leave for the last four weeks
of this year. During this time Mrs Wheat will be Principal, Mrs Bagby – Deputy Principal,
Mrs Bekkers – Head of Inclusion and Miss Demack will replace Mrs Bekkers.
I will continue Long Service Leave in 2024 with the view to retiring when my leave runs out.
Please be assured this decision is not health related – just age.
I would especially like to thank the amazing staff I have worked with in my time here. They
put 110% into their work to provide our students with every opportunity to succeed.
I would also like to express my appreciation for your support over the last 17 years and take
the opportunity to wish everyone all the best for the future.
Regards
Russell Knowles
